Additional documents you may need

Besides the main documents (CV, recommendation letters, English proof, physical examination form and study plan), some universities and categories ask for extra documents. This guide covers four common ones. Always confirm which ones your university requires.

DocumentWhy it is asked
No Criminal Record CertificateTo show you have no criminal record. It is used for application, visa and enrolment checks.
Blood test reportLaboratory report that supports your health check. Some programs ask for it separately.
Financial Aid StatementA statement about who will support your expenses or any financial aid you receive.
Affidavit for Bank StatementA sworn statement that supports your bank statement and your source of funds.

1. No Criminal Record Certificate

Also called a police clearance or police character certificate. It is issued by the police or the authorised government office of your country.

1

Find the issuing authority

Check which police office or government portal issues the certificate in your country.

2

Apply with your documents

Usually you need your national ID or passport, photos and the application fee.

3

Check the details

Your name, date of birth and ID number must match your passport.

4

Check validity

Many universities accept certificates issued within a limited period, often six months. Apply close to your submission date.

5

Translate if needed

If the certificate is not in English or Chinese, get a certified translation.

2. Blood test report

  • Get the tests done at a recognised hospital or laboratory, along with your physical examination.
  • Make sure the report carries the laboratory name, your name, date, results and the stamp or signature.
  • Keep the original report and scan a clear PDF.
  • Follow the list of tests required by your university or the physical examination form.

3. Financial Aid Statement

This is a short signed statement that explains who pays for your studies and living costs, or what financial support you already have. Your university may provide its own format.

  • Write your full name and program.
  • State clearly who supports you, such as parents or a sponsor, or what aid you receive.
  • Add the sponsor's name, relationship, contact details and signature.
  • Attach supporting proof if the university asks for it.

4. Affidavit for Bank Statement

An affidavit is a sworn written statement. For a bank statement, it usually confirms that the account and funds belong to you or your sponsor and that the information is true.

1

Get your bank statement

Request a recent statement or bank letter with the bank's stamp and signature.

2

Prepare the affidavit

Write the statement on legal stamp paper or the format used in your country. Include names, account details and the purpose.

3

Get it attested

Sign it before a notary public, oath commissioner or the authority that attests documents in your country.

4

Scan the documents together

Upload the bank statement and the affidavit clearly, usually as one PDF or as the system asks.

Rules differ by university

Some programs do not ask for a bank statement at all. Others ask for a minimum balance. We confirm the requirement for your chosen university before you spend time and money.

Use only genuine documents

Never submit a fake or edited document. Verification can happen at any stage, and false documents can cancel your admission and visa.

Final checklist

  • All names and dates match your passport.
  • Every document is clear, complete and in English or Chinese, or translated.
  • Documents are signed, stamped or attested where required.
  • You kept original copies for later verification.
  • You have checked the list with your university or CIES Study.
