Xuzhou Medical University overview
Xuzhou Medical University (XZMU) was established in 1958 and is in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, with Beijing and Shanghai under three hours away. It has admitted international students since 2005 and now has more than 400 students from over 50 countries.
XZMU has three campuses, about 17,000 students and 1,400 teachers. It offers 28 specialties across undergraduate, master's and PhD levels, including Clinical Medicine, Public Administration and Medical Imaging Engineering. International students study Clinical Medicine (MBBS, MD/MS and PhD) and Nursing, which has been open to them since 2016.

Fee structure (September 2025 intake)
All amounts are in Chinese Yuan (¥) and come from the CIES Study fee schedule for this university. The highlighted line is our own service (liaison) fee. All other lines relate to the university and government charges.

Before you apply: Application fee ¥1,000 (non-refundable and not adjusted in the first-year package) and a security deposit of ¥5,200 that is adjusted in the first-year fee (50,000 − 5,200 = 44,800).
Terms to know before you pay
- The fee package does not cover food, air tickets, stationery or other living costs.
- Liaison fees are separate from the university fees. They are charged by the organization that handles the admission process and are non-refundable once paid.
- Fees are paid in Chinese Yuan (¥). Exchange-rate changes can change the US dollar amount.
- Every year students also cover their own visa fee (¥400) and insurance (¥800).
- If a student leaves before finishing the program, fees already paid are not refunded.
Scholarships
- Freshman scholarships: Type A is worth ¥33,000, Type B ¥16,500 and Type C ¥8,250. Ask us which type your profile may qualify for.
